Throwback Thursday – Chairmen Past and Future

tbtBurns_high_resolution_scan_editedIn this photo, which appears in the 1989 NRC Annual Report, both the then-current and a future NRC Chairman tour the Comanche Peak nuclear plant with officials (on the left) from Texas Utilities Electric. Can you name both NRC leaders?

  1. You are correct. Our current Chairman Stephen Burns was once executive assistant to former Chairman Kenneth Carr and accompanied him on this tour of Comanche Peak.

  2. I think the fellow on the far right is the current NRC Chairman, Stephen Burns.

  3. I do believe I may have taken this picture when I was the public affairs officer. In RIV. I further think I see Chairman Ken Carr, but don’t recognize anyone else.

  4. Chairman Ken Carr is correct. He is second from the right. But who is the fellow on the far right?

  5. I looked it up. I found that those two pictured may have been Lando Zech & Ken Carr.
Might create some interesting discussions if you asked which past NRC Chairman was the most outspoken when it came to the NRC strictly enforcing all its regulations. My vote goes to Shirley Jackson, Chair ’95-99.
